My fourth grade teacher was my first mentor besides my parents.  Franz Luoma was his name and he was a man among boys.  He had been a great hockey player and a strong disciplinarian.  I am so thankful that God brought him into a young boys life when I needed him.  Mr. Luoma challenged me to be better and taught me self respect and respect for others.  He taught me to play to win but also play fair.  Thank you teachers across America who give of yourself like Mr. Luoma did!  You have no idea the impact you are having on our youth.  I would not be the person I am today had it not been for his leadership and direction.  Mr. Luoma used to say, "When the going gets tough, the tough get going."  How many times I have used that in my life to get though the hard spots in life.  Life will be tough at parts, but with faith and committment you will win.  I located Mr. Luoma a few years back and was able to thank him.  If you have someone in your life who has made a difference to you make sure you thank them.  The world needs more mentors and encouragers.  Well I must go work out now.  I am seriously sore from a couple of hard workouts and do not feel like doing this workout, but I know "when the going gets tough, the tough get going!"  So get going the world awaits you!
