Welcome to my leadership blog. Ideas have consequences and the goal of this blog is to discuss ideas of consequence. Some ideas you may agree with and some you may disagree. No worries. The only rules are that you post under your own name and that you think and discuss in a civil manner. People who attack others only prove they have reached the limit of their logic. The Bible states, "Iron sharpens iron" and we will sharpen one another by what we read, write and think. The goal of this blog is to help us identify and follow truth in all areas of our lives. I encourage you to join our leadership discussion and transform yourself and others through the renewing of our minds.

However beautiful the strategy, you should occasionally look at the results.

Winston Churchill

I think Sir Winston was being a little facetious here...  You should probably look at the results a little more frequent than ‘occasionally’.  The whole point of business is profit. Otherwise, it’s just a hobby which you had better enjoy doing for all the risk, responsibility, and time required to run a business.  The whole point of a strategy is to produce a specific outcome.  The whole point of a system is to produce an intended result leading to that outcome.

Orrin Woodward is constantly reminding us business owners to look at the scoreboard.  Who is winning?  Me or time?  Am I busy or am I productive?  Chris Brady says, “Measurable results within a measurable period of time or something must change.”

Peter Drucker said, Effective leadership is not about making speeches or being liked; leadership is defined by results not attributes."

Orrin Woodwardand the Team System have provided us with the necessary Process, Program, and Product to achieve the results we so desire.  We have the complete package enabling us to achieve results beyond what we would normally be capable of even imagining.  So, what’s holding us back from achieving the results we desire to have and know we can?  Answer that and you’ve already begun to win the battle between Results and Reasons.

Here is an article I found interesting to read.

Be Realistic: Create A Miracle!
By Harald Anderson

What is it that you really want in your life?

Money? Status? Success? A Beautiful Home? A Prosperous Business? A Loving Relationship?

Now let me ask you a super blunt question: Why don’t you have it yet?

A few months ago I attended a seminar. One of the speakers began his presentation with what I initially considered a very confrontational remark. He paused very dramatically and bellowed… “What lies do you keep telling yourself?” Although the room fell deafly silent, we all knew that his question truly touched a nerve. That question has echoed in the hollows of my mind ever since.

“What lies do you keep telling yourself?”

“You’re calling me a liar?” “All the lies?” “How much time do you have?” “That’s not a lie, that’s the truth!”

The responses that were firing up to that question were racing through my mind at the speed of light.

In Life We Can Have Results or Reasons. If you are not getting the results you want, your reasons are the lies that you keep telling yourself. You can try to argue with that statement but its kind of like wrestling with the wind, it will keep you real busy but you really won’t get anywhere. Lies create the idea that we are powerless to make things any different than the way they are.

I hate to admit it but we are all liars. We love our reasons and will go to extreme lengths to hold onto them. After all, our reasons are our stories, which define us.

Those experiences “made us who we are today!” It’s just the way things are……..

Results or reasons. Which do you have more of? If you answered reasons, its time to analyze the lies. I speak from experience. I spent the first thirty years of my life studying what I should believe in. Studied all the great reasons. Read all the great philosophers, not once did anybody ask me…..”What is it that you want to experience with all these ideas?” So I got a little top heavy on reasons and a little short on results.

The problem with having so many reasons is that eventually these reasons create a logic of limitations. They are like a virus that creates “a story” that runs in the background of your minds hard drive. Whenever we see something that we want to create, the first thing we bump into is these beliefs (reasons) that have shaped our experience thus far. And so the battle ensues. Possibilities vs. Limitations. The Grudge Match.

Its like a counterproductive stealth message has been implanted in your mind, “You never seem to really win at anything, so don’t expect much here!” This message brought to you by your sponsor, “limiting lives is what we do!”

We all search for meaning in life. However sometimes life is meaningless. It just “is.”

The critical moments that shape our lives are when we define our experience and declare….”what this means is (fill in the blank).” If the statement that we make at this crucial moment, in filling in the blank, even mildly disempowers us, we empower the logic of limitations to control our perspective from that moment forward.

Don’t believe me? Here are some famous examples for you to try on for size:

Oprah Winfrey was fired from one of her first jobs as a television reporter and told that “She wasn’t fit for TV.” How do you think she defined that moment?

After his first performance on the Grand Ole Opry, Elvis Presley was banned from returning and told, “You ain’t going nowhere son!” At that crucial moment do you think the King of Rock created a message of possibility or limitation?

Life just is. Sometimes when we look for meaning we might want to remember that.

What’s your story? (“What this means is________________”)

Have you ever been fired, rejected, heartbroken, mistreated, insulted? How did you define the moment? I only ask, because that agreement has shaped your reality. Be Careful What You Agree With! The Results Can Be Lethal.

Now what did you say you really wanted in your life?

Listen carefully and you’ll hear those reasons whispering their logic of limitations! It’s no big deal if you hear the “stories” from time to time. The question is what are you going to do about it?

Mark Twain once commented that “life does not consist, mainly or even largely of facts or happenings. It consists mainly of the stream of thought forever flowing through ones head.” Our REASONS create our definitions and create the energy of our life. Change our definitions and you change your experience. Change your meanings you alter your destiny. Life does not give us what we want. Life gives us whatever we expect. Life just is. The meaning that we attach to the events of our life defines our experience and creates the thoughts that allow us to create abundance or limitation.

When I was a kid I absolutely loved to read the cartoons and comics in the back of the newspaper. They made me laugh with glee. Now those cartoons were essentially a picture being defined by a clever or witty caption. One day I got the bright idea that I was going to change the captions on those cartoons and see if I could make them funnier. Isn’t life the same way? Your pictures are your experiences. Your captions are your beliefs. Do you have the courage to change your own captions? It’s your life after all. The only limitation we possess is the idea that there are limitations. Did you write your own captions or did you allow someone else to write them for you?

We all have a huge investment in what we have come to know. However, sometimes what we know has nothing to do with what we need to know to be successful.

Sometimes what we know has nothing to do with what we need to know to be happy!

To change all of that you need to locate your limiting beliefs and say goodbye to them.

Change the captions of your life. Reasons or Results.

Marilyn Voss Savant writes a weekly column for Parade magazine. She is acclaimed as the person with the highest IQ on record. When she was asked by one of her readers about life, she responded with ““Feeling is what you get for thinking the way you do!”

True poetry. To that I would simply add, be careful what you agree with it’ll mess up your focus.

Consider this for a second: How many beliefs were you born with? How many beliefs do you have today? Along the way you have acquired a lot of baggage that is weighing you down. The problem most of us run into is that we believe in things that are “just not so”, but we lead our lives in alignment with those lousy definitions and experiences to make them “so.” It might be BELIEF-ECTOMY time.

One of the central tenets of the personal development movement is that we become whatever we focus upon most. Fifty years ago Earl Nightingale published his bestseller “The Strangest Secret” and made us realize that our focus creates our destiny. Web poet, adventurer and philosopher Mike Dooley of www.tut.com has eloquently modernized and improved upon this statement when he states, “Thoughts Become Things. Choose the Good Ones!” Most people don’t get what they really want because their focus is fuzzy at best. Do you really know what you are focused on? Before you answer that question too quickly recognize that your focus has been responsible for creating your life up until this point. Your agreements shape your reality…. so be careful what you agree with.

So what is it that you really want?
My advice is simple. Be Careful What You Agree With and Then Focus, Focus, Refocus and Refocus some more. And when you think you are through focusing, focus again.

You wouldn’t drive to your destination fixated on the rear view mirror. Reasons or Results. Be Realistic: Create A Miracle!

Tim Berners-Lee, W3C Director and inventor of the World Wide Web

The World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) is an international consortium where Member organizations, a full-time staff, and the public work together to develop Web standards. W3C's mission is:

To lead the World Wide Web to its full potential by developing protocols and guidelines that ensure long-term growth for the Web.

W3C Develops Web Standards and Guidelines

W3C primarily pursues its mission through the creation of Web standards and guidelines. Since 1994, W3C has published more than ninety such standards, called W3C Recommendations. W3C also engages in education and outreach, develops software, and serves as an open forum for discussion about the Web. In order for the Web to reach its full potential, the most fundamental Web technologies must be compatible with one another and allow any hardware and software used to access the Web to work together. W3C refers to this goal as “Web interoperability.” By publishing open (non-proprietary) standards for Web languages and protocols, W3C seeks to avoid market fragmentation and thus Web fragmentation.

W3C Tim Berners-Lee and others created W3C as an industry consortium dedicated to building consensus around Web technologies. Mr. Berners-Lee, who invented the World Wide Web in 1989 while working at the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN), has served as the W3C Director since W3C was founded, in 1994. In December 2004 (in Boston, USA), and in June 2005 (in Sophia-Antipolis, France) W3C celebrated its tenth anniversary with symposia about the history and future of the Web and W3C. More information about the history of W3C and the Web is available.

W3C Is an International Consortium

Organizations located all over the world and involved in many different fields join W3C to participate in a vendor-neutral forum for the creation of Web standards. W3C Members and a dedicated full-time staff of technical experts have earned W3C international recognition for its contributions to the Web. W3C Members (sample testimonials), staff, and Invited Experts work together to design technologies to ensure that the Web will continue to thrive in the future, accommodating the growing diversity of people, hardware, and software.

W3C's global initiatives also include nurturing liaisons with national, regional and international organizations around the globe. These contacts help W3C maintain a culture of global participation in the development of the World Wide Web. W3C coordinates particularly closely with other organizations that are developing standards for the Web or Internet in order to enable clear progress. The document Worldwide Participation in the World Wide Web Consortium summarizes W3C efforts in broading our international impact.

The first quality that is needed is audacity.”
Winston Churchill

Be audacious enough to believe you can achieve whatever you set your heart upon.  Then make the right decisions for success.  We have an incredible path paved before us by Orrin Woodward and the other Team leaders.  If we begin with 3 primary areas to focus and decide to pursue we will achieve success to a level most people will never see in their lifetime.

1.            Seek Continual Growth.

Happiness can be found in growth.  It is out of growth that we live and through growth that we give.  We must ask ourselves what it is that we are learning right now… today.  As Orrin would ask, what is stretching me out of my comfort zone?

2.            Become a Servant Leader.

To lead is to be first, out front.  To serve is to focus on the needs of others before ourselves.  Focus on the needs of others before your own reward.  Do not wait until you get something out of a relationship before you give to it.  It will not come until you first nourish.  Deny yourself the “what’s in it for me” mentality that permeates our culture with a rotting stench.  Give first and the reward will follow. "I the LORD search the heart and examine the mind, to reward a man according to his conduct, according to what his deeds deserve."  Jeremiah 17:10

3.            Attitude!  Attitude!  Attitude!

Our success is not determined by what life brings us but by how we respond to it.  We must remember that our attitude is always a choice and it’s our choice to make… no one makes it for us.

With the Team System that Orrin Woodward has created, developed, expanded and refined, any person can pursue greatness with the odds of achieving it stacked in their favor.  As we reflect upon the choices we’ve made thus far… and as we look to make them better in the future with the guidance of those that have gone before… let us never forget that it is the next one that holds the power of the present.

Decide!  And have the audacity to begin it.

I am for those means which will give the greatest good to the greatest number.

Abraham Lincoln

The best means to give the greatest number a chance at success is a system of education in sound economic principles and practices, a sincere source of inspiration and motivation, an environment of encouragement and PMA, where an individual can find a sense of purpose in knowing that they are pursuing worthwhile goals and dreams that make a difference in their lives and the lives of others.

Orrin Woodwardand the Team have put together such a System and have tapped into some of the most significant wealth creating trends to make that system economically profitable for anyone who learns and applies those principles.  It is a System of information and action that the greatest number of people could utilize to begin pursuing their dreams and fulfill their deepest sense of purpose.

Orrin Woodward always looks to the indicators of growth and no one can argue with the results being achieved.  In an industry where expansion and volume determine its success, Orrin and the Team have put together the business model that produces both in a systematic fashion.  Pull the levers of success on the Team and you’ll have the results.

And even more evidence of results:

US Census Bureau News

The US Census Bureau Department of Commerce released on Thursday May 18, 2006 the Quarterly Retail E-Commerce Sales for the 1st Quarter 2006.

This report is definitely worth reading.  The trends don't lie... we have a business model in the trends that are growing rapidly and it actually appears to be picking up momentum.  Steady increases year over year from .6% in late 1999 to 2.6% in the 1st Quarter of 2006.  Already in 2006 we see a 25.4% increase over the same period last year.

Read the full report here:

http://www.census.gov/mrts/www/data/pdf/06Q1.pdf

All things being equal, leadership makes the difference.  It is exciting to be a part of a leadership development team building a business that is being led by those having in mind the best interests of the newest person joining a business model that captures the power of the internet, the rapidly growing wealth of e-commerce and the personal franchise characteristics of the System with which each of us can grab ahold, learn, change, grow and achieve results we otherwise could only dream of.

Thanks to Orrin Woodward and the Team for making available to ordinary people a vehicle of achieving extraordinary results.

Reuters reports on the latest e-Commerce numbers.  Another record setting quarter in an industry that seems to be without limits.  Orrin Woodward and the Team have put together the model that captures the power of this internet growth with the Products, Process and Program that allow anyone with a dream and a willingness to learn and develop the leadership necessary to take ownership of their lives by building communities of people through which products and services flow.

U.S. e-commerce sales rose 7.0 pct in first quarter

Thu May 18, 2006 10:07 AM ET

WASHINGTON, May 18 (Reuters) - U.S. retail sales over the Internet and other electronic networks rose a seasonally adjusted 7.0 percent in the first quarter of 2006, the biggest quarterly jump in two and a half years, the Commerce Department said on Thursday.

Purchases over the Internet, by e-mail or through other electronic networks rose to a seasonally adjusted $25.218 billion in the January-March period from an upwardly revised $23.569 billion. They were up 25.4 percent from a year earlier.

E-commerce sales accounted for a record 2.6 percent of total retail sales, a new record for the sixth quarter in a row and up from 2.5 percent in the fourth quarter of 2005, the Commerce Department said.

Total retail sales for the first quarter rose 3.2 percent versus the previous quarter to $976.110 billion and were up 8.1 percent from a year earlier.

E-commerce sales include goods and services negotiated via the Internet but exclude online travel services, ticket sales and the services of financial brokers and dealers.

The United States began first publishing data on e-commerce transactions in 1999. The government collects sales data from about 11,000 retail firms out of what it estimates to be over 2 million such companies.

"Kites rise highest against the wind - not with it."

Winston Churchill

Giving Up Too Soon

by: Author Unknown, Source Unknown

A man meets a guru in the road. The man asks the guru, "Which way is success?"

The berobed, bearded sage speaks not but points to a place off in the distance.

The man, thrilled by the prospect of quick and easy success, rushes off in the appropriate direction. Suddenly, there comes a loud "Splat!!!"

Eventually, the man limps back, tattered and stunned, assuming he must have misinterpreted the message. He repeats his question to the guru, who again points silently in the same direction.

The man obediently walks off once more. This time the splat is deafening, and when the man crawls back, he is bloody, broken, tattered, and irate. "I asked you which way is success," he screams at the guru. "I followed the direction you indicated. And all I got was splatted! No more of this pointing! Talk!"

Only then does the guru speak, and what he says is this: "Success is that way. Just a little after the splat."

We must never forget that anything worth having, is worth working for.  Orrin Woodward and the Team have demonstrated over and over that success comes to those who stick.  Orrin has said that success is as simple as falling down 99 times as long as you get up 100.  Are you willing to fall down 99 times and get up the 100th time to success?  Operating under the principles and business model of the Team make getting up easier and the falling down doesn’t hurt as much.  Learn from the fall and each time we’re closer to success.  Commitment, perseverance, determination… these are not optional ingredients in the formula for success.  William Feather said "Success seems to be largely a matter of hanging on after others have let go."

So hang on!  And achieve the success you’ve dreamed of.

Nearly all men can stand adversity, but if you want to test a man's character, give him power.”

Abraham Lincoln

Abraham Lincoln describes here the true test of a man’s character and integrity.  Matthew Henry says:  It is not fit the public trusts should be lodged in the hands of any till they are first proved and found fit for the business they are to be entrusted with.”

The Team and Orrin Woodward have taught that integrity is 2 things:

·          Morality-  Not doing what is wrong, and

·          Character-  Doing that which is right… no matter what!

Orrin not only talks the talk but more importantly, he walks the walk.  Orrin leads by example and has created a business that rewards performance with results which can be achieved only through serving others with the integrity necessary to handle wealth, power, and influence.  It is incredible that a business such as the Team and a businessman such as Orrin Woodward emphasize and teach true wealth with a business model that produces it like none other.  For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?  Matthew 16:26

View Article  Team Orrin Woodward- Leader of Leaders continued

Back on April 25th we reviewed an article written by leadership expert, John Maxwell (Permanent Link). The article laid out certain questions to consider in identifying potential leadership.  Below is part two of that article which lays out the remaining 7 considerations.  And, again, Orrin Woodward and the core leadership of the Team have a check mark next to each quality.

I know of no one who can cast a vision like Orrin Woodward.  Orrin is an expert in the field of Visioneering. He is masterful in creating vision with such high value for each individual that buying into that vision elicits commitment and passion to see its fulfillment.  His willingness to take responsibility for every area needing improvement is limitless and he possesses the most admirable quality of giving the credit and recognition to others where Team strengths prevail.  This is a man who finishes what he starts and leads people with the same level of commitment and determination.  Of all the CEOs, business executives, heads of state, and any other high levels of leadership positions in the world today, Orrin’s level of EQ would have to rank in the top 1%.  I’ve personally seen Orrin Woodward confront, handle, and resolve conflicts that would break not only most men, but would tear apart most companies and organizations.  His people skills serve him and his Team well.  Following Orrin Woodward is made easy because his nature is so ‘others’ focused.  He truly wants to help people become better in all areas of their life that they may feel worthy in themselves and feel the reward of living a life of significance.  The results and success of Orrin Woodward and the Team speaks for itself.  This is a man who can get things done… and does… well.

Perhaps the greatest of all Orrin Woodward’s qualities is his commitment to develop and duplicate in others these qualities of leadership that they may, in turn, influence change in such a way as to affect and nurture change at a cultural level.  This he has already begun to accomplish.  The Law of Legacy is first and foremost on Orrin’s mind and his life purpose of adding value to the lives of others is honorable.  Not many in the world today would put themselves on the frontline of criticism and public scrutiny to pursue a dream many have thought impossible.  I’ve seen enough to know now, that:  “If the dream is big enough, the facts don’t count.”

PICKING POTENTIAL LEADERS - PART TWO     By Dr. John C. Maxwell

The Law of the Inner Circle: Those who are closest to me will determine the level of my success.

In the last edition of Leadership Wired, I shared four of the eleven questions I ask myself when selecting leaders to serve beside me:

1. Do I see a constructive spirit of discontent?
2. Do they offer practical ideas?
3. When they speak, who lis
tens?
4. Do others respect them?

Your inner circle will prop you up or pull you down as a leader. You cannot afford to place the wrong people by your side. An unethical or divisive leader can be poison to the bloodstream of an entire organization. That's why I'm a firm believer in making a comprehensive evaluation of a potential hire. Here are questions 5-11 that I ask when choosing potential leaders:

5. Can they create or catch a vision?

I have a subset of four questions I try to answer when evaluating a potential leader's ability to catch or cast a vision:

Are they able to become a part of someone else's vision before they demand that others follow their vision?
I watch emerging leaders to see if they can catch a vision before I determine whether or not they can create a vision. I look for potential leaders who are willing to follow before they lead. I want to see if they can serve before they empower.

Do they add value to the vision given to them?
In other words, do they have the creativity to take a vision and make it better? Rather than blindly implementing the vision of another leader, potential leaders are able to improve upon the vision and make enhancements to it.

Do they show a high level of commitment to the vision?
After they buy into the vision, I want to know if they will pay the price to make the dream a reality. Potential leaders are willing to take responsibility for the vision.

Are they passionate about the vision?
A person can accept a vision and take steps toward its fulfillment, but I am searching for an added dimension of excitement and energy. I want a person with a contagious passion for the vision; someone with an infectious enjoyment who spreads the vision to others.

6. Do they show a willingness to take responsibility?

In my opinion, The Statue of Liberty should have a sister-statue—The Statue of Responsibility. People are quick to defend against infringements upon their freedom, but slow to take responsibility for their actions.

Benjamin Franklin said, "I never knew a man that was good at making excuses who was good at anything else." Avoid choosing employees who are unwilling to take ownership or averse to responsibility. It's easier to go from failure to success than from excuses to success.

7. Do they finish the job?

The bookends of success are initiative and closure. If you cannot initiate, you cannot make things happen. If you cannot close, things that could happen never will.

Take notice of the projects you delegate to a potential leader. Do the jobs get completed 100%, or do they end up back at your desk demanding time and attention? The answer will tell you a lot about the leadership ability of the potential leader.

8. Are they emotionally strong?

No one can lead without being criticized or facing discouragement. A potential leader needs mental toughness. I don't want a mean leader, but I do want a tough-minded leader who confronts reality and pays the price of success.

9. Do they possess strong people skills?

Leaders with people skills will be more enjoyable to work with, and they will get more accomplished. Be wary of hiring a potential leader without friendliness, tact, or team spirit.

Observe whether the potential leader motivates or manipulates others. Motivation is moving people for mutual advantage, and it is a necessary leadership skill. Manipulation is moving people for personal advantage. Manipulation is always wrong and damaging to the health of teams and organizations.

Even without experience in a leadership position, potential leaders are already exerting influence in some capacity. Research their track record—both their achievements and their impact on the lives of those nearest them. If they can lead people without having a position, they'll do very well when they get one. If they can't lead people without a position, giving them a title will not help. The leader makes the position; the position doesn't make the leader.

10. Will they lead others with a servant's heart?

Servant-leaders never pursue a mission at the expense of their people. Rather, servant-leaders earn the loyalty and best efforts of their people by serving the interests and investing in the development of those they lead. A servant-leader leads to see others succeed.

Rabbi Kushner was right when he said, "The purpose of life is not to win. The purpose of life is to grow and to share. When you come to look back on all that you've done in life, you will get more satisfaction from the pleasure you have brought into other people's lives than you will from the times that you outdid them and defeated them."

11. Can they make things happen?

Some people make things happen, and others wonder what happened. Make sure a potential leader can produce.

Kansan poet Walt Mason gives expression to the value of a results-oriented producer in his poem, The Man Who Delivers the Goods.

There is a man in the world who never gets turned down,
Wherever he chances to stray.
He gets the glad hand in the populous town,
Or out where the farmers make hay;
He is greeted with pleasure on deserts of sands,
And deep in the isles of the woods;
Wherever he goes there is a welcoming hand—
He's the man who delivers the goods.

One is too small a number to achieve greatness. To accomplish anything of significance, you must have the right people by your side. I trust these 11 questions will aid you as you pick potential leaders.

It is difficult to make a man miserable while he feels worthy of himself and claims kindred to the great God who made him.”

Abraham Lincoln

According to Psychology Today, by the time a child reaches the age of 18, the concept of "No, you can't!" has been reinforced 187,000 times, whereas the concept of "Yes, you can!" has been reinforced only about 25 - 30 times.

With this in mind, is it any wonder why so many people give up on their dreams and even themselves?  With no hope, what’s the point?  Today's culture programs us this way.  We simply do not "believe" we can win.

That is why Orrin Woodward and the Team are so appreciated:  Orrin has created an environment that breaks the mold of negative reinforcement into positive encouragement restoring hope back into people’s lives wherein they become empowered to excel and achieve much greater things than settling for what society says they must.  Orrin Woodward, through the Team system, has leveled the playing field for creating wealth- not just money, but lifestyle.  Anything anyone wants to achieve… whether it’s just being part of a winning Team, becoming a hero to one’s family and kids, or building a business with the potential to change the world economy or to influence culture, there’s something for everyone.  Perhaps it’s simply peace, as Abraham Lincoln suggests above, in knowing a man is worthy in the eyes of his creator.  This then is how we know that we belong to the truth, and how we set our hearts at rest in His presence.” 1 John 3:19

There is great peace in the presence of God.  May everyone be blessed with such peace.

Rule #1

Expect the best from people you lead.

  • Good teachers… look for strengths that others have overlooked and ways to encourage the gifts in their group.

  • … our attitude toward people… will determine failure or success at motivation.  If people know we expect good things from them, they will in most cases go to great lengths to live up to our expectations.

  • By assuming a positive attitude and concentrating on their strong aspects, you put [people] in contact with their good attributes and their behavior becomes better.

  • The German poet Goethe stated an important principle.. “Treat a man as he appears to be, and you make him worse.  But treat a man as if he already were what he potentially could be, and you make him what he should be.”

  • Emerson said, “Every man believes that he has a greater possibility.”

  • Deep in the breast of everyone there is a drive to achieve something, to be somebody.  And therein is a wonderful entry point for the motivator.  If you will tap into that drive and demonstrate that you believe in people’s futures, they will do almost anything to live up to your expectations.  And they will work harder for you than for anyone else in the world.

Orrin Woodward looked for the best in me while others were quick to point out the least.  Orrin Woodward expected the best from me and it made we want to be better than I was.  In treating me as if I already was what I could be, I began to become what I should be.  Though not arrived, but further than I was, I strive to run the race that is marked out before me.

The game of life has been scheduled... we might as well play it.  If we're going to play it... we might as well win it!

Play small... win small.

Play big... Win big.

Either way, it's up to you.

Heb 12:1 Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us.

History will be kind to me for I intend to write it.”

Winston Churchill

Orrin Woodward  and the Team have put together an opportunity for each of us to do exactly that… write our own history.  The Team System put together by Orrin Woodward gives each individual who utilizes it the chance to literally become whomever they choose through personal growth.  How does your story read?  Are you writing it or are you letting someone else?

The following is taken from Conversations With Millionaires written by Mike Litman and Jason Oman:

I have a question here from a gentleman.  His name is Matt, in Alabama.  He asks, “Michael Gerber, what is the most important step an entrepreneur can take to begin setting up the system in his or her business?”

The absolute most important thing you can do, Matt, is read The E-Myth.  Now, if you haven’t done that, you have to do that.  That’s the first thing.

The second thing you do once you have read The E-Myth is to ask yourself the questions, “what do I want from my life?”  Forget about your business, Matt. Forget about your business.  It’s a complete unadulterated waste of time. Your life is your business and so you have to ask yourself, “what do I want?”  What I mean by that is, what is your primary aim?  Do you remember earlier, we talked about creating a story?  Telling the story.  Our life is a story.  The problem is we’re not writing our story.  So this is the very first thing we tell our clients to do.  Mike, the first thing you do when we get done tonight you go home and you imagine your C.O.D. Imagine your crap out date.  Imagine you’re at your own funeral and suddenly you’re speaking. You’re at your own funeral. You’re speaking to everybody at the funeral and you say, “listen, I have to tell you a story. Nobody else could tell you this story like I can. Nobody knows me like I do.” You’re dead, Mike, you understand? You made the recording before C.O.D., before you died. What story would you tell them?

Okay, so today is the first day of the rest of your life.  What a cliché.  What a horrible cliché.  But the fact of the matter is, it is!

Imagine going home tonight and writing this script for the tape you’re going to play at your own funeral and saying, “Hi. I want to tell you the story of a guy. His name is Mike. He was, you know, however old when he saw the light.  And that day he decided he was going to create by intention, absolute intention, the rest of his life. This is the story.”

Telling it, telling it, telling it, and then living it, Mike. But nobody does that. Everybody is out there having accidents.

There is no coincidence… there’s only providence.  Stop letting accidents direct your life and start writing a story worth reading.  The story you want to tell!

"People are just as happy as they make up their minds to be."

Abraham Lincoln

For thousands of years, men and women have searched for the secret that would enable them to live a more happy and successful life.  To this day, many people continue to look for this hidden secret, seldom ever finding its hiding place.  Most of us never realize that it lies deep within each of us.  As Orrin Woodward and the Team have proved and provided for others, lasting happiness comes from putting your heart into that which you enjoy doing and working at it with joy and enthusiasm.  Happiness grows out of harmonious relationships with others based on attitudes of good will, tolerance, understanding, and love.  Happiness is basically determined by the attitude you hold toward yourself and those around you.  Happiness depends upon a mind full of rich thoughts and a heart full of rich emotions.  As Orrin Woodward has taught, “The city of happiness can be found in the state of mind.”  A cheerful heart is one which grows larger by helping others.  “Help thy brother’s boat across, and lo! Thine own has reached the shore.”  Thanks Orrin for putting together the Team System by which each of us can help thy brother’s boat across and achieve true happiness in the process.
