Good morning Orrin,
Words can not explain my level of excitement. Since day 1, your encouragement has inspired me to THINK! What a concept. We have met with numerous leadership groups lately and the same level of excitement is everywhere you look. You, Chris, Tim, Randy, Billy, Chuck, and numerous others have created an environment taht requires understanding and desiring the truth to promote what we stand for. That really scares some people. My life has a new purpose and taht is to serve others and have fun doing it regardless of what others think as long as it is done in love. This site WILL be # 1 and those visiting it will become part of the greatest movement in history. So many thoughts are running through my head, I have no idea how you prioritize your thoughts about where to start improving the lives of others. I'm guessing that because you have this ability to inspire people to think, and then they do, GOD will take care of the rest. In case you haven't noticed (for those reading this) The Leadership Revolution has begun. The snow will melt here in Northern Michigan soon, but the snowball effect that has begun will increase every day.

Orrin,
I started letting people know about your blog since you wrote the piece on 6 degrees of seperation. Now I get to have discussions with some friends and family about the different articles you write. It's been fun, challenging and exciting!
You had asked a little while ago about topics that would be of interest. I would love some articles and also some recommended reading on managing finances (before the investment stage). I think there are a lot of people out there (myself included) who don't have any idea how to properly manage money.

While we have only read the book and are now only ½ way through studying it, Gods Plans for Your Finances has been a great place to start for My wife and me. Plenty of how to and what to do types of things in it, but most importantly, the why. That perspective alone is worth the investment of time to read it.
Now for periodic motivation and refresher on the "how", Randy Haugen's "Finacial Common Sense" CD is pure gold.

Thank you for your vision. I love this leadership environment! I could use your insight on a project. I am partnering with a junior college for leadership development classes. However, I am at a roadblock with the course descriptions. I really do not want to sound like the rest of their offerings. Can you point me to a resource or guide me in some way? I don't want to sound weak, I just want to have success for our cause....leadership.

I just wanted to pass along something that happened where I work. I operate a chemical plant for a global chemical company. "The Chemical Company".
I work on shift with 10-12 other operators and a "Team Leader". I am currently "Backup Team Leader" on my shift. (I know, I know, I need to quit backing up and move forward already!) Anyway, the environment in which we work is one that is far from a positive one. You really have to have a thick skin every single day and night at work to remain emotionally sane. Encouraging or lifting someone up is not the norm with these guys. Training is accomplished by verbally and emotionally bashing coworkers senseless and weeding out the "weak" ones that can't cut it.
The other night, a young guy came into the control room and made an announcement, in front of everyone, that his dream was to be a pilot and he wanted to go to flight school. He was immediately ridiculed, verbally assaulted, demeaned, and made fun of. Completely typical during the normal course of business. I could see this guy was utterly crushed. It was very painful to watch. I was ashamed to think of the number of times I had treated people in exactly the same way without giving it a second thought.
I followed this guy outside and tried to talk to him. He was visibly shaking and extremely upset. I talked to him a bit and just listened for a long time until he calmed down. I encouraged him to chase his dream. I encouraged him to go to flight school. I encouraged him to ignore the critics and always remember how it felt to be treated the way he was treated, and ridiculed, like he experienced. I told him he could use this experience to motivate and propel himself forward, and that the only person he had to prove anything to was himself.
After work I gave him a Team CD, "Making a difference", and another from Chris Brady, who I explained was a pilot. I directed him to this blog as well as Chris's Leadership Blog. All I can say is WOW! We have created a monster. He is burning through all my cd's. He has read his first book in years and wants another. He has enrolled in flight school. He is reading these blogs. Most importantly, he is treating people differently. He carries himself differently. He holds his chin a bit higher. I overheard him encouraging someone else at work. He is also going to the seminar with me.
All I can say right now is that I hope everyone who reads this blog is as proud of this guy as I am.
This is who I am now. I will not quit.
I may not be able to walk into a giant business (yet) and have the posture to get them interested in our training system, but I am seeing the results of what happens when one person gets it. I feel truly blessed in a way that I never have in my life. What a gift.

Great job! I am not only proud of your co-worker for stepping out and chasing his dream, but I am proud of you for not joining in with the rest of the crowd in trying to crush his dream but quite to the contrary you helped him nourish his dream and bring it to fruition. Thanks for promoting the Tipping Point by Malcom Gladwell. I have seen it in my mothers basement on the shelf and read a bit of it last month. You reffered to it and i am 3/4 done. What a concept and idea he brought out on the table. And what a mind expander!!! We are in the midst of a tipping point. I would love to get your perspective of the Stickiness Factor and the Power Of Context. My thoughts for the stickiness is our entire being of TEAM. Our direct fufillment, this blog, Chris' Blog and most importantly the assosiation are all important elements of the Stickiness Factor.The Power of Context: (Part 1 we are sensetive to our external enviroment) also Part 2 ( you often create small movements to create one contagious movement). This book opened my mind to what we truely have. Maybe you or other leaders could elaborate on the last two rules of an epidemic and how they are so important to TEAM.

What I would really like to see, though is more participation on the blogs by Policy Council and Round Table members and others on the TEAM with much more wisdom and experience than me.
