Terri and Chris have my prayers. What a classy and wonderful lady.

While at the Louisville open, I wondering aloud to my two fellow Centurions if there would be news of her prognosis. They replied "Why would they do that? It would just bring negative into the TEAM." The very next speaker was Terri! Now I know why she came out. "I want to dispell any rumors about my illness" she said.

What then followed is perhaps the bravest, most heartfelt outpouring of love and affection I have every seen - and I have seen senior leaders go through similar challenges before. Nove have ever handled it with the aplomb that Terri did.

It was her testimony about how her relationship with God, Chris, her children, and the TEAM were just fine that moved many men to discover just how much their eyes were sweating. I can only hope, when my time comes to confront something challenging in the health area, to be as sanguine about my prospects as Terri is about hers.

The very next speaker was Terri! Her witness to her relationships with God, Chris, her family, and TEAM was one of the bravest, most uplifting talks I have ever seen. I have seen senior leadership with serious health challenges before - but none of them had the poise, serenity, and quiet strength that Terri showed that night. I could not believe how many people had the same sweating eye problem I seemed to have.

I can only hope to be a tenth as good as she was when the inevitable health challenge comes my way. Godspeed, Terri.

Amway co-founder Rich DeVos, who will discuss leadership during one session, said the event will showcase the differences between how business is done in West Michigan versus the eastern side of the state.

“The climate on this side of the state is very different,” DeVos said. “The people around here are productive and get things done. People don’t spend all their time arguing.

“Detroit, because of its union mentality, always spends its time arguing and fighting. We’re going to talk about getting on with the job.”

I'm thinking they should practise what they preach!

Praise God that Terri has a full and complete recovery in Jesus Christ! Terri - you are a brave and very courageous person and we are beyond proud of you! Never accept any lingering symptoms to stay permanently. You are a fighter and God the Father is on your side!

Amway - what are you doing? Someday when you stand before your creator, you can tell Him that you took the Bradys to court again? I wouldn't want that on my record especially with all the good that they are doing. God doesn't look favorably on anyone messing with his kids.

A big thank you to you for keeping us abreast on how things are progressing for Terri. We have definitely been keeping her in our prayers and my wife has contacted multiple churches’ here in Columbus to put her on their prayer lists. Her talk at the major on Saturday night was one I will never forget. Her example was one that taught me no matter what happens to me it is how I handle those challenges that makes all the difference in the world. She is an incredible person that breathes hope, belief, and love into everyone she meets or converses with! We will continue praying for her!

As far as your article about A/Q I am beyond embarrassed that a company would stoop to this level. I am going to apologize up front because I do not want to come across as ranting and raving, but somehow someone has to get through to them. I have written many articles from a leadership perspective about Amway comparing their leadership with many Fortune 500 executives I have consulted with in my career. More than ever before that gap is further than what it has ever been. I have offered solutions to them on this blog, so if I get a little fired up I have the peace to know that I have first tried to offer solutions not just state problems.
Amway has taken their leadership to a whole new level that only the likes of Enron and WorldCom once occupied exclusively. I guess it is true that misery truly does like company. Amway has hit rock bottom and is proving they are still digging. This despicable act of character is something that cannot go unnoticed. I am so embarrassed that I ever defended this company to anyone. I have never seen so many “leaders” at a company look like kids with bad little pity parties. I would expect that from a 2 year old, but not from a group of adults. Are you serious Amway!!!!!!!? Is this the best you can offer!? What a joke!

The question I have is this: Does this company employ any leaders or are they all a bunch of grown babies?! No leader worth a salt would allow this type of childish behavior go on in their company. It is no wonder why this company is a dead end opportunity for anyone. I am so disappointed with the DeVos and VanAndel families that it has caused me to question everything I have ever heard from them. These so-called great American opportunists are proving they want to be known as the great American oppressors! We have all heard that “people of integrity expect to be believed and when they’re not, they allow time to prove themselves right.” I would like to modify that definition a little and say, “People of integrity expect to be believed and when they’re not, they allow time to either prove themselves right or wrong.” Well their time was up on August 9th, 2007 and these so-called “leaders” have definitely been proven wrong. Either step up and follow the right principles or step aside and let someone else prove to you that your childish behaviors might work in a daycare, but not a boardroom. Do you even realize that you have people counting on your leadership? You are sacrificing the potential of everyone affiliated with your company by your inability to lead! If you truly care about the people in your organization than either get better or get out!! If a duck occupies a position that demands an eagle then the duck begins sabotaging any potential the company once possessed.

Orrin, you once wrote an article entitled “Where have all the heroes gone?” I pose this very same question to the people at Amway and all the field leaders! I have no idea how a group of men and women that are so-called “leaders” in the field can put up with a corporation that is choosing to display this type of behavior. Take your talents and go apply them into an opportunity that is equipped to lead talented men and women! Oh that’s right, A/Q views your talents as their property and will put up walls so you can’t. By not making a stand for truth the “leaders” in the field are proving they part of the problem instead of the solution. For all you new people; THAT IS SCARY!!! If you do your own research and draw your own conclusions, without a blind loyalty bias, you will share in my terror about this company’s leadership. No organization, no matter how talented the people are in the organization, can ever raise above the lid its leaders place on the company.

Finally I would like to make a call to arms to all Amway “Field Leaders!” I have attended way too many A/Q affiliated conferences. Trust me they all start sounding the same after you have been to one. Probably because their leader doesn’t read books, he only writes books………… One message I took from the speakers was that “in order to build this business it takes a backbone not a wishbone.” My challenge to you is to step and be the example you preach about! It is time for you all to start standing on the principles you claim to possess and cease all this childish behavior by your company executives. Stop the blind loyalty and start challenging the despicable thinking portrayed by the company you represent. As a leader you should never expect the loyalty of others before you have built a relationship and earned trust. John Maxwell said, “The loyalty of follower comes as a reward to the leader who earns it, not the one who yearns for it.” It is time to stop accepting average leadership and start demanding Level 5 Leadership. Your legacy is counting on you to meet the needs of this hour. If you choose not to then all that you have invested will be for nothing because there will be nothing left to pass on to your children or grandchildren. You have paid too great a price for your achievements and not demanding better leadership will erase all the hard work you have invested. You ask me, “How does he know?” Hasn’t the corporation already done a great job proving they are capable of causing damage?!!!!! Just call a timeout and think!! Since you say that you have a backbone I am sure doing the right thing won’t be a problem…………..What say you? Don’t tell us what you are going to do. Start showing us!! Yes the leadership of your company is terrible, but you have the cookie to make the changes.

This is a free country and if people choose not to follow a dead end opportunity, why should they be punished? If anything they should be applauded! This idea of wanting to punish people that don’t agree with your policies is not free enterprise, it is communism. If people chose to spend their time pursuing other opportunities other than Amway then they should be allowed. You can spend your life any way you want to, but the catch is that you can only spend it once. The allegation of anyone taking trade secrets is a joke! Haven’t people that left Amway proved they don’t need your secrets to succeed?! By the way your secrets are proving to the world they don’t work! It takes leadership not secrets!

Thanks again Orrin for showing us a way where we can monitor Terri’s progress. Our thoughts and prayers are with Chris, Terri, and their family. I am through being upset or surprised by anything Amway does. My focus is on building the largest community of winners that has ever been assembled. In Amway land Team Approach is "a regulatory risk" but in the rest of MLM land it is standard operating practice which proves yet again how out of touch with reality the Amway bureaucrats are. Let's keep our focus on building big numbers and proving we are right by our actions just as much as Amway proves they are wrong by theirs. It is great to hear about Terri! I am checking her blog often for updates. And watching Terri on Stage in Louisville was one of the most inspiring events I have ever witnessed.

I am truly glad to be a part in the TEAM and even happier to be around so many positive and up beat people!

As to the Evil Empire's latest move....well, despicable is the word that comes to mind. A new low, even for them. I will pray for the folks at AMQUIX. But I have to wonder, at what time will they just stop?

I also wonder how many IBO's are questioning the amount of money the Empire is spending in National Advertising and World wide in defending or initiating lawsuits?

It seems to me that this is all money that could be going to the IBO's in the field or into lowering their retail prices. If I was an IBO, I'd sure be steamed about that. You don't think the Emperors or their minions are using cash out of ther income or dividends, do you?

Anyway, I have now spent more time talking about AMQUIX than I ever wanted to....

thanks for the news. I will not rant about A/Q for a little over a year ago most of us drew the line in the sand and vowed never to cross back over.If not for the leadership of all the team leaders many of us would still be in corperate mind set instead of the team mind set of making a differance.
All of us owe it to are self's to get out there and share what we have. I don't believe that the Brady's
would want everyone to stew thay would want us to prove.
Our thaughts and prayers are offerd daily for Terri and Chris as well as all the team leaders.

I am glad Terri is doing well! This can only mean that her work of inspiration for all of us here on Earth is not yet completed.

As for A/Q, I have been around for quite some time. I remember when Mary Kay was sold to the Venture Capitalists. Not wanting to deal with MKIBOs, they began a national marketting campaign, then started placing the products in stores, demolishing all incentive for someone to build the MK business. Later, of course, the original owner bought back the business for pennies on the dollar and tried to rebuild it. Unfortunately, the brand had suffered too much damage, and it still is not back to where it once was.

It is my belief, based on nothing but observation, that A/Q will eventually do away with the IBO altogether, and sell directly to the customer. Already, IBOs must register customers in order to qualify for the MCVR and their bonus. How many times will an IBO with many downline but few customers miss out on 12% level payouts before they quit in disgust?

Thank God you got us out of that trap and set us forth on a far more lucrative and exciting opportunity!

I am very new to the Team and Mona Vie.. I have never found a reason to look up to many people in my life and to go to my first major and hear this news that this woman had a brain tumor and was going to go through surgery in just a few days, just blew my mind. She has 4 kids and Chris, All I could think was what would possess someone who is going through all of that to be in Louisville away from home and the rest of their family and friends. After I heard Terry speak not only was I completely taken aback by her honesty and outlook on her situation, I was in tears for her, her family, and for everyone on the Team, the reason... To have someone like that, with that type of heart and integrity, and self sacrificing nature in a business like this, it would be a heart wrenching and devistating blow to all of those who lives and hearts she and her family have touched. So I wish her,Chris and the rest of her family all the blessings and prayers god and all those who know them. You are a blessing to have the opportunity to see in action.
