My response. Why is anyonymous so threatened by a discussion of different alternative discussion about something that neither of us can prove. Was anyone there the day of Creation or Big Bang? It is out of the range of science where you predict, test and then determine if the data accurately confirms your predicted results based on the hypothesis. I am an engineer by training and this is called the scientific method. Since we have no way of performing the scientific method, it is more faith than science. When our anonymous friend starts calling names, it is either:

1. They knows this, but do not want to discuss and so choose to call names instead.
2. They don't know this and so chooses to remain ignorant.

Either way, they are free to have their opinion. I think this just confirms more the need to search for truth and not let name calling or ad hominem attacks deter anyone for the search for truth. The search is helped by discussion and hindered by attacks. I didn't see any logical refutation of anything that was stated in the video of Ben and R.C. by the commenter. I think the major difficulty with Intelligent Design is that it does not fit the scientific method. That is, although we can gather data and form hypotheses, we cannot test those hypotheses. Why? Simple: we cannot command the Designer. THerefore, the central pillar of 'experiment' fails us.

By arguing Intelligent Design on the field of science, we are not playing to our strength, which is faith. The scientific method has no room for faith. Indeed, most of the great mistakes in science have at their root the exercise in faith - in past cases, the belief in the inviolability of the 'approved solution'. Thus Galileo, Copernicus, Pasteur, Einstein were all iconoclasts, breaking the icons of their predecessor with new views that COULD be tested, and were proved out.

Take Global Warming. It is a new secular religion that flies in the face of facts (like the great cooling trend of the past 10 years) I predict that in 25 years, great books will be written about how so many were taken in by the Gorean Religion that they shredded their scientific detachment to fit in, be part of the herd, and secure big wads of government funding.

Back to ID. There is nothing to say that evolution has NOT proceeded as it has because that is how the Designer crafted the Universe. In my mind, there is nothing more sublime and perfect than the Designer setting up conditions that were so specific that the double spiral of sunflower seeds HAD to occur, let alone Man. Yes, I know that chaos theory precludes that, but chaos theory is more a statement of our ignorance than a defeat of ID. Besides, who is to say that the Designer DIDN'T cause the mutations that cause the rise of various species. I imagine God tapping an asteroid Earthward to kill off the dinosaurs, or causing a muon shower at the right moment to radiate a particular population of hominids.

There is nothing in evolutionary theory to preclude such Creation. Indeed, the only thing that science could say would be "an asteroid impacted" but not from whence it came, or "a new species arose" but not that a blast from a gamma ray burst slightly singed their DNA. Such subtlty is more the hallmark of the Designer than the gross Velikovskianism that catastrophe theorists love.

As for the anonymoous, cursing blogger? He has neither an open mind, nor the capacity to entertain a serious discussion. His logic is imperfect, and worst of all, he is rude.

Yet your grace and humor show you are the better man. I appreciate your posting of the negative comments as well.

Orrin, have you seen the movie? It's great! I saw it a couple of months ago and I new it wouldn't be long until you found it too. The funny thing is at Blockbuster they only had like 3 copies. I asked them to order more so I would encourage everyone to go in and specifically request there stores order more. When people browse the stores and only see a few copies that tells them that it's a B or C title because all of the A titles have tons of copies. So it can help to get more on the shelves!

Are you familiar with the Speechless: Silencing The Christians movies put out by The American Family Association? It's 20 minute video's about how in different parts of the country Christians are being silenced by the government. Even kids being expelled too and not for being radicals either. One public school in California is teaching it's elementary kids about jihad and having them do reenactments!!!

Phenomenal article! Keep providing this information as you do your own personal study. It challenges each of us to come to truth by getting information and perspective other than our own. Being open minded to some means accepting their opinion while not having tolerance for others. This seems to be the direction of our universities today.

It's interesting to note that the book The Closing of the American Mind was written by a Cornell University professor where the Ivy League education is held in such high esteem and that Carl Sagan the famed astronomer for whom the The Carl Sagan Award for Public Understanding of Science was named after was not open minded enough to consider or discuss the concept of Intelligent Design. Interestingly this award is presented is by the Council of Scientific Society Presidents (CSSP) to individuals who have become widely recognized magnifiers of the public's understanding of science.

It is in this course of open discussion that the truth can be discovered. Thanks for providing this forum.

We all know that the opportunity to openly entertain or host conversation about ANY topic is at the basis of our Constitutionally protected right to free speech. Yet there are those whom distract us from having intelligent discussion on the REAL issues, such as the loss of that right, by flooding all forms of the media with the steady din of every day life in our modern society. Evolution has always been one central theme to under mind the rule of law, and strip away the strength of the believers, much like the Nazi party did by dividing and destroying those that did not align with their views.

Orrin this is yet again another article that I’ve read several times here at your blog, and with each time that I watch the interview it frustrates me with the feelings of being just one man in this messed up world. And then again I am comforted by my confidence in knowing that my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ was also in a very frustrating position, but he too was confident in the divine creation of all things, and simply continued to do his work. My association through the Brady Organization and The Team, will be the way of fighting for what’s right, and winning the battle, and by being a part of the vision of One Million people, we will make a difference.

I see such a parallel with people in regards to this subject much the same as our system and learning. I've seen so many people so excited about their future until they're exposed to TRUTH for once in their lives or at least information that would prompt them to seek out the truth. It definately exposed me and brought me to a crossroad in my life. Am I going to continue to close my mind to what I DON'T want to hear or am I going to take the advice from some leaders who simply asked me to bring some info. to the table that would support my beliefs. What I found was that I constantly belittled and fought anything that didn't mesh with my thinking and upon taking a serious look at myself and confronting reality, the only reason I had to justify those actions was, it doesn't best serve my current agenda to entertain those possibilites and even if I were to get the truth and admit maybe there were some things that were possibly true, how would I explain it to my close circle of friends and family that perhaps I wasn't exactly correct on many things I claimed to be in the past? How would my ego be able to support that humungous hit to it?? I think that's where humility comes in. Humility is derived from wisdom and one's abililty to seek wisdom. This is where the universities get off track in my opinion. To me, knowledge is merely "chance". Without "wisdom" applied, knowledge is just that, "knowledge"
I love the fact that the leaders I'm learning from never have tried to teach me knowledge! They've always taught me what has made them "WISER" and not what they claim has made them smarter! I've seen so many people give up on their future because they couldn't get over that hurdle. When pride wins out over humility, the abillity to learn and become wiser is virtually impossible. I think as a Christian, the less I claim to know and the more wisdom I apply to my life as I move through my spiritual journey, the more I have to offer others. The same applies to the business. Much like the game of golf, the more I think I have things figured out, the greater my chances are of messing things up!
The blogger who chose to resort to name calling and profanity towards you is a prime example of someone who chooses to act upon the knowledge they've gained up until this point in their life. Perhaps if they sought some wisdom, they could respectfully disagree with you or anyone else without looking like a fool!

Orrin, Several years ago we heard Tim Marks mention Dr. Dino (Kent Hovind) in a talk - and we have been Dr. Dino Junkies ever since. We are engineers by background also - and we love his scientific explanations that back creation. (He also talks about how Nazism was founded in evolutionary theory.) One of his biggest points is that many of our nation's school text books contain either lies about how life began (documented lies) or they teach theory as fact when it comes to evolution. He shows charts in his talks where the testing scores, violence, teenage pregnancy, etc.... have all skyrocketed ever since our country decided we needed to "step up" our teaching of evolution in the early 60's. The boys who shot their fellow students at Columbine believed in evolution and idolized Hitler. Just like Ben Stein says in the video, Darwinism is a religion to many people. It is just cleverly disguised under the cloak of "science". For those of us who believe in Intelligent Design, we need to keep spreading the Good News and let people decide which religion they want to follow: The one that leads to death or the one that leads to life. Keep on keeping on, Orrin. God is using you in a BIG way.
