"People cast their own sins upon others." Hmmm...could that be construed as casting swine before pearls...? ~ ; D Re: Pastor Robert Dickie II Quote

I've heard it said that much of the time when you find a fault in somebody else it is due to you hating that thing about yourself. I wonder if the principles are related.

I wonder what makes people do that? I suppose it's their conscience.
This reminds me of a situation. Yesterday a lady gave me her entire life background of her non-belief faith viewpoint and thought she was poking fun and joking about it as she talked right in front of her teen and mine. She thought she was funny. It's a good thing I had read a few books. ;- D In the end I realized that it was a choice for me to be offended or not. I chose to not be offended, add them to my prayer list and show them with my actions. Is there anything you would have done differently? One thing that came to mind was Larry VanBuskirks' "oh really, why's that?" ;- D Re: Re: Pastor Robert Dickie II Quote

That's a great story, Sunshine.1. And a great example of will power and self discipline. Being "offended" runs a close second to Baseball as our national pastime...seems like entire Special Interest Groups have arisen around the "opportunity" to become offended at the right moment (especially is there's money, via arbitration, involved). ..victim mentality run amok.
And that's why we're needed in the country & in the world: Response - not Reaction Together Everyone Achieves More! Re: Pastor Robert Dickie II Quote

Isn't it amazing how many people can be believers in Jesus Christ as their Lord, believe in God, but on earth be making life miserable for each other,
and both will be in God's Heaven. How does God weave his fighting children into his plan for eternity. He does. we, humans, will never know. I think "people cast their sins on others" and never know it. Just the way you or I live we are casting our sins on others. It's not intentional. Re: Pastor Robert Dickie II Quote

Orrin,
This is a great quote! I have always enjoyed Pastor Dickie's wisdom from stage and on the audios. I have heard you say before that "hurting people hurt people" and that quote reminds me of what you are sharing with us on this post. I believe all of us are not immune to having hurtful things happen to us. In fact I have discovered that most people treat others the same way they are feeling. Some people just enjoy "dishing out" their pain to others in times of crisis. Especially when they feel so desperate. My belief is that instead of taking the "victim road" when someone has every reason to do so, that still does not give someone the right to do so. If you stay higher and keep taking the high road and pursue the "victor road" that is when you will see the most blessing. In other words if you continue to sow positive seeds in your time of need, my belief, is that God will multiply your blessings. I heard a story one time that really reminded me of this principle. It is about eagles. When eagles are harrassed by other birds they don't just fight back and try to destroy the annoying birds. They just fly to higher altitudes where the other birds can't go. It has been documented that eagles have been spotted above 20,000 feet. They are the only birds that can live at that type of altitude. The moral of the story is that many times in life we will have people in our life that will do extremely hurtful things to us, but we must remember that if we want to be eagles we must look past the pain and rise to higher elevations where those people can't fly or reside. I have seen you model this Orrin to a "T" during the past 8 months or so. I just want you to know that very simple principle I learned from you has served me extrmemly well over the past couple months or so. Appreciate all you do! Best, Matt |
