It warms my heart to know your leadership message is affecting business leaders world wide. It shows the need for ethics and accountability in all cultures by the tremendous response. Like a quality business opportunity people also thirst for knowledge and guidance. This just reinforces my belief that character and integrity are infectious, accounting for the incredible growth in all you do, books business and now blogs.You've mastered the 3 B's! Success is truly based on core principles, and this is yet another testimony!

Hi Orrin,

It's OK if you don't post this. But I hesitate to point people to this website because of the "other than Leadership" postings that are here. I love the Leadership articles and your views of being a Leader; however when discussions creep in about "the Q defense" and "the Q history" and "the M Opportunity" it loses its Leadership appeal. There are other blogs you can post to about those topics. Some of the LLR students I teach in a LLR class here in Texas said they would like to see this blog totally dedicated to Leadership and leave the other important issues to other blogs.

Randy, No worries. You can recommend or not as you please. The blog heading states where leaders come to learn from the author of this blog - me. If I were charging a fee for this blog or the leadership information then I would cater to the wishes of the readers entirely. I feel the thinking is wrong from your leadership friends. Let me give you an example. When I read a book from Michael Jordan, I expect to hear about basketball even if I am after learning about excellence only. When I read a book from Truett Cathy, I expect to learn about chicken restaurants even if I am not in that field. I have to learn the lessons and apply to my specific field. Quixtar, MonaVie, Team, Christianity, Leadership, and any other topic I feel led to post upon is what I will post upon because this is my opportunity to share my thoughts on things I am learning to share with others for no charge. There is not one post (Well practically not one post) that someone cannot learn major lessons of leadership because leadership is a Dream, Struggle, and Victory. I wish to share all three so people get a proper perspective on leadership and not a fantasy perspective. With all that said they can either: A. Not Read, B. Sort through the articles they like or C. Read and learn from every article. I read from a wide range of books and love the autobiographies because I learn about other businesses and endeavors to improve myself. Leadership is not a narrow field but a wide river. What a shame people would put leadership into a little box of leadership essays. Hope this helps. thanks, Orrin

Orrin, thanks for the reply. I consistently learn from your postings. It teaches me how to think a little bit different, something I look forward to from great teachers such as yourself, and my friend Chuck Goetschel. You guys always challenge us to look at things just a little different. And if my new LLR students ask some tough question, well so be it, I will learn through that as well.

I hear what you're saying. There are some things I'd rather a prospect not see, too. What I do, besides sending them the TEAM URL, is grab the specific URL for the blog-entry I want to share:

e.g.
Orrin's Top Ten Blog:

or
Chris Brady's Business Casual entry:

This way they see what you want them to see. And while it's true that they could "explore" the rest of the blog on their own, they're going to find out about the "rest of the story" sooner or later. You can look up archived entries and tailor the blog to the person (sports, history, faith, etc.).

But I only do this kind of prospecting with folks who are difficult to meet in person, or who want to keep me at arms length at first (say, my child's teacher). The first option is always an Open, a house meeting or a 1-on-1.

Thanks for sharing all of your struggles and victorys in all avenues. Sometimes the feild hopes your thinking one thing and.. until you state it on your blog we just dont know. Such as Walmart of Internet. The Team who reads this blog, love hearing why you did what you did and how you did it. I am glad your educating the troops on the moral side of the fight we are still in.

This is fantastic...this concept of 6 people away from the entire world is mind boggling...yet the site has proven it can be done and that with God all things are possible.....Thanks for your insight, willingness to share and your openess about who your Master is.....it is so encouraging.

Orrin and fellow bloggers,

I sat down earlier to type out a witty, sarcastic, highly intelligent repsonse of a comment to celebrate another milestone with this Leadership Blog. I ended up typing up a very long and drawn out description of everything that I may or may not be doing in preparation for the business opportunity that I may or may not take part in. (Yeah, right!)

I was reminded that this Leadership Blog is not the place to discuss specific business building techniques, unless you happen to be named Orrin Woodward, and then I am gonna use every idea I see here. :)
(No offense to anyone else who has an idea)

In a previous article titled "Warren Bennis - Six Personal Qualities of Leadership"

Orrin made a quote that stated, "Are you leading a team or merely talking about leadership? There is a MAJOR difference!"

I pondered that question and argued with myself about exactly what I could and should be doing from that day, until May 22, at 12:01am.

Without getting into specifics, suffice it to say that I am LEADING. Preparing for a number of future possibillities. Hypothetically speaking, of course.

Dangit, I had to erase a bunch more stuff.

I will stop now and just say congrats Orrin and fellow bloggers. What a wild ride this has been and will continue to be.
I am proud to be associated with some of the GREATEST Leaders and Students of Leadership that I have NEVER met.
YET.
You men and women continue to inspire me to be a better man. That says so much about YOU.
I hit my knees every morning and night and thank GOD that I have the blessing of learning from all of you.
If you don't hear much from me between now and May the 24th, blame it on Orrin, Chris, Randy, Tim, Bill, et al.
They get blamed for everything else. I think they are tough enough to handle it.

Now I need to get going. I am a very busy man. I have people to meet, things to discuss, delicious fruit beverages to taste, dvd's to watch, stuff to look at, books to read, cd's to listen to, and meetings to attend. A lot of them actually, maybe, hypothetically speaking.

It is all practice, too. All hypothetical, just in case.

I truly love and appreciate you guys.

Orrin and Fellow Bloggers,

As I read this article and then looked at all the countries in the list, I had but on single thought. PAY IT FORWARD!

Now I've heard this term from stage and heard it on the CD's too and it's a phenominal phrase in that what we do is just that, "Pay it Forward." And as I looked at the list of all the countries, my thoughts went back to the book I read with the same name; "Pay It Forward" by Catherine Ryan Hyde. I remembered from that book that the boy stood in front of his class and drew out his plan for "changing the world" and how he said, "This is you" and he drew a big circle and then he said, "you know 3 people" and then drew three smaller circles beneath the larger circle. (The kid was going Emerald for pete's sake.) Then he went on to explain his plan which was this:

"You help someone really big and then don't ask for anything in return except you tell them that now they have to do the same, help someone really big. And then you do this for all 3 people who also know three people." And of course in the book and the movie too, he got laughed at but this did not stop him. Infact, this was a true case of PDCA because he would constantly go back and check his progress. The sad part was of course when he thought he had failed but in reality, he did not. The movement went on without him all based on a simple idea.

So all I'm saying here is that we do this very thing. We help people and we help them BIG and one way we do this is by promoting this blog. It's one person reaching out to another and not giving a hand out but a hand up.

Thanks for all you've done Orrin and Thanks for all you've yet to do. You are truely Blessed and Highly Favored.

Orrin- Great book on power of relationships and community- "Sampson and the Pirate Monks" by Nate Larkin. Pastor with sexual addiction problems and how he uses relationships to overcome this and other addiction problems. Also great article on p 196 on founding and development of Linux by community- could be part of leadership article.
