Welcome to my leadership blog. Ideas have consequences and the goal of this blog is to discuss ideas of consequence. Some ideas you may agree with and some you may disagree. No worries. The only rules are that you post under your own name and that you think and discuss in a civil manner. People who attack others only prove they have reached the limit of their logic. The Bible states, "Iron sharpens iron" and we will sharpen one another by what we read, write and think. The goal of this blog is to help us identify and follow truth in all areas of our lives. I encourage you to join our leadership discussion and transform yourself and others through the renewing of our minds.
From the Author of Centurion Principles
by JC OLeary
Orrin and Friends, It was encouraging to read how this particular book has made an impact on your leadership and lives. A friend acquainted me with your blog and so I thought I would check it out. What a great way to encourage each other as "Centurions" in the making. I followed this book up using a similar style (of great models of various characteristics that live on after we do), and called it "Footprints in Time: Fulfilling God's Destiny for your Life." I'd like to add a follow up to my life beyond the military. I spent a couple of years doing Middle East Analysis for Fox News in Washington DC while continuing to write. However, the passion of my life has been the work we started in India 17 years ago. We have been building orphanages and schools and helped establish 62 churches in Eastern India working among the untouchables. So, that is where I have placed my leadership on the line. I run "Mission of Joy", a non-profit in the US, on the thinnest of margins so that we can send nearly everything we collect to ease the suffering of so many. I want you to know that the words I wrote in the book were as much for me, as they are for those who read it. I am keenly aware that one day, I will have to stand beside a man such as Sir Thomas More (Chancellor under King Henry VIII), who refused to compromise his integrity in spite of rampant corruption and a licentious King. In the end, he kept his faith and his integrity and lost his head. Since we all must face the end, in one way or another, I consider my decisions that challenge my integrity in light of how I feel when I one day stand beside Sir Thomas More. Will I be ashamed to stand in his company? When I stand next to Joan of Arc, what excuses would suffice for not completing my destiny, when this girl of 17 changed France through her unshakable faith--a girl so unschooled she couldn't even sign her name until just before her death? Again, thank you so much for Taking the High Ground (my first book :0) ), and seeking to leave more than a mark, but footprints that others will be able to follow who come after you. Who knows--maybe one of you will have a dusty author like me study your life 50, 100 or even 500 years from now and say, "Now there was a life!" Godspeed, Jeff O'Leary
