Welcome to my leadership blog. Ideas have consequences and the goal of this blog is to discuss ideas of consequence. Some ideas you may agree with and some you may disagree. No worries. The only rules are that you post under your own name and that you think and discuss in a civil manner. People who attack others only prove they have reached the limit of their logic. The Bible states, "Iron sharpens iron" and we will sharpen one another by what we read, write and think. The goal of this blog is to help us identify and follow truth in all areas of our lives. I encourage you to join our leadership discussion and transform yourself and others through the renewing of our minds.
Re: Charles Swindoll - Claude Hamilton - Attitude
by John
I have to contribute that I was reminded of how important a good attitude is when facing struggles by a 20 something man I met at a men's leadership seminar in Michigan Friday night. After a bit of small talk, he began talking to me about the unemployment rate in the state and how jobs were very scarce. He went on that families are just packing up and leaving, forcing the local governments to hire crews to drain swimming pools. The picture got less pleasant when he said there are some developments where every second house or so is boarded up. The picture he painted didn’t make living in the Michigan look pleasing at all. What was amazing came a few minutes later in the conversation when he shared his thoughts on the situation. This guy told me he see a bright future for Michigan. He sees Michigan having a ripe climate for a company or whole industry to come in and start building again. He went on to explain the many reasons why a company or industry would want to invest their time and money in the state. The reasons why and all facts were not as important as the young guy could experience the decline that is happening yet be able to see the bright future that was ahead of him. He wasn’t like those families that threw in the towel and moved away. He was in for the long haul. He had the twinkle in his eye that said he was planting his seeds and preparing his fields because he knew eventually the rains would come again. I am not a betting man but I would lay odds on the fact that this young man gets his input from some very positive sources. Enthusiastically, John
