Orrin –
Thanks for the comments. I do get what I can out of all that I read and leave the rest, but if I tell someone to read something and part of it is untruthful, it is my obligation to alert them. This is one of the ways I serve. Yes, anything taken out of context can be misleading, and the author has done this with his biblical references. I know you want to believe that when the author writes, “Kings and Queens” he means “servants”, but he writes that buy doing good works, one becomes a “King or Queen” – a very Mormon concept.
Orrin, I believe that our faith is the same; our desire to serve is the same; and our goal to glorify God is the same; however, I see some things differently. I believe this is good. There should be multiple perspectives on life, which is how we sharpen ourselves. One of the differences (although as we look into it we are not too far apart) is where we see the world going. The Bible tells us that the anti-Christ is coming to rule the world and it will be hell on earth. Now just because I know this does not excuse me from acting in Truth and in service to the Lord. I don’t subscribe to the “let go and let God” doctrine. It is my honor to serve a God who saved me from myself. This, I believe, includes honoring is creations. One of the ways I honor him is to serve others, and this makes a difference in the world.
I enjoy St. Augustine, as well, and am also aware of his false beliefs, but if I recommend something to somebody, who may not be able to discern the error, it is my obligation to preface their reading with some clarification.
I believe that by serving the Lord I can make a difference, but doing so does not make me a “King”. If the Lord continues to bless me and place me above some men or even make me a king, I will always be a poor sinner bound and opressed. It is the Grace of God that justifies us, not our service to mankind.
I like what you do Orrin, but a small error can compound itself. I would be interested to hear what Pastor Dickie thinks of my comments, because if I’m wrong I would like to know. Again, we should be sharpening ourselves constently.
Thank you so much for all that you do. I hope I don’t come across as pious and condescending. It is not my aim to be right, but to serve in pointing out error. We are all fallen men and at one time or another need correction and guidance – me more than most.
God Bless,
Kevin
