Welcome to my leadership blog. Ideas have consequences and the goal of this blog is to discuss ideas of consequence. Some ideas you may agree with and some you may disagree. No worries. The only rules are that you post under your own name and that you think and discuss in a civil manner. People who attack others only prove they have reached the limit of their logic. The Bible states, "Iron sharpens iron" and we will sharpen one another by what we read, write and think. The goal of this blog is to help us identify and follow truth in all areas of our lives. I encourage you to join our leadership discussion and transform yourself and others through the renewing of our minds.

Well the taxes are certainly a concern with Gov. Huckabee, but I believe him when he explains where they came from. His net increase in taxes was over $500 million in 10.5 years. I have to imagine most of those increases came from the increased education spending that needed to be made based on court orders. The other area where spending increased was to rebuild the roads that the people of Arkansas voted for by. Sometimes you have to take a step backwards to move forward. Try not to look at the tax increases specifically, but look at the results he produced as governor. Improved education, improved roads, and most importantly a lot more jobs. Doesn't it come down to results? Now I do agree with you that I am still concerned with other tax increases that have occurred, but there have been very few people that have not raised taxes or fees (they are essentially the same) while in office at some point. But here is the main reason why I am not concerned with his fiscal record. The FAIR TAX is a fantastic idea and makes all of the others things about him irrelevant. A consumption tax is the best way to tax people, as opposed to a productivity tax. It's a much simpler system. I like most of the candidates on the Republican side, but I just think that Mike Huckabee is the person with the most conviction to his beliefs.
