This is a fantastic post, Orrin. So many companies (or organizations) today feel that "knowledge is power", but only in regards to what knowledge the "management" possesses. I truly feel that employees empowered with information are more likely to put forth an honest effort for their organizations. When those people are "left in the dark" vs. having open communication with and from those they're involved with, there's a willingness to help bring that organization to the top. Lack of communication, or information, makes it feel like something is being withheld for some reason. And, as you said, if it can't be written on the NY Times front page, why say it? Or put another way, why is there a lack of communication? Is there something to hide?
Thanks for the open communication. There's a reason your organization is achieving things that no one else is, or will ever be, able to.
