Welcome to my leadership blog. Ideas have consequences and the goal of this blog is to discuss ideas of consequence. Some ideas you may agree with and some you may disagree. No worries. The only rules are that you post under your own name and that you think and discuss in a civil manner. People who attack others only prove they have reached the limit of their logic. The Bible states, "Iron sharpens iron" and we will sharpen one another by what we read, write and think. The goal of this blog is to help us identify and follow truth in all areas of our lives. I encourage you to join our leadership discussion and transform yourself and others through the renewing of our minds.
Re: Jim Collins - Good to Great

Orrin - I've been plagued (as I'm sure have others building their teams) with a mentality of "wait and see" from both prospects and teammates. THANK YOU for providing me a documented source of an acknowledged expert outside our game (thus an "objective" source of info) who concisely relates my reply that leadership trumps product/service, and better to get some sail up in advance of the gale. To this point I've been relying on Warren Buffet's "Brains, Energy, Character" but other than that CD (which has issues because of outdated pin-related terminology) didn't have something objective to point them toward to strengthen my reply. This day's post will greatly help, and over the next few weeks any additional support along this same vein would also be greatly appreciated - perhaps early missed opportunities to own McDonalds (ex. Chuck Yeager), Microsoft (IBM's turndown), etc. - I don't know the right examples/analogies, but know there's vast historical support for why someone wants to begin developing leadership skills and teambuilding in ADVANCE of the flood . . .
