Re: A History Lesson - Winston Churchill

Good Morning Orrin,
Yesterday was a day to remember! The courage, servanthood, compassion, and competence your and Laurie's leadership exemplifies is something I hope to grow into one day! I am so fired up about the future! Based on reading all the posts yesterday, this makes perfect sense as to why we are heading in this direction. In fact after reading, if we weren't headed in this direction I would be concerned. All of us need to think realistictly. Being able to deal and think in terms of reality is something leaders do.
The corporate world is a "dog eat dog" world. Many of us already know this. However when you deal in the legal relam this is especially the case! In the legal world in order for someone to win somebody has to lose. In fact I would go as far to say their goal is not only to win, their goal is to destroy you and shut you down! It is almost like a game of chess. In chess you have to think 4 sometimes 6 moves ahead of your opponent before you make your move. Leaders see before others see and leaders see more than others see. That is a fact! I don't know how anyone that read all the great posts yesterday can't understand that if we didn't go this route VS. create the "dream business", on day one, that "dream business" would turn into a nightmare very quickly.
When I played collegiate football we always studied scouting reports about our opponents. We would watch hours and hours of film to gain any competitive advantage we could on our opponent. By the end of the practice week we could even guess with fair certainty, that when our opponent came out in a certain Offensive formation, we could almost predict what they were going to do. By studying and watching their tendencies, it allowed us to stop them by anticipating where the play would go. So our goal became to change up our formations to confuse the opponents. In other words we would diguise our defensive fronts, disguise blitzes, disguise our coverages and then snap into the defense that the formation required us to be in. When the opponents got confused and got knocked back on their heals, they couldn't run anymore plays effectively and the game was ours for the taking!
Sorry for relating the game of football to this decision, but I think many of you understand the analogy! We all have a great future together! I am so proud to be a part of this community!
We appreciate all you do for us Orrin!
Best,
Matt
