Welcome to my leadership blog. Ideas have consequences and the goal of this blog is to discuss ideas of consequence. Some ideas you may agree with and some you may disagree. No worries. The only rules are that you post under your own name and that you think and discuss in a civil manner. People who attack others only prove they have reached the limit of their logic. The Bible states, "Iron sharpens iron" and we will sharpen one another by what we read, write and think. The goal of this blog is to help us identify and follow truth in all areas of our lives. I encourage you to join our leadership discussion and transform yourself and others through the renewing of our minds.
Re: Empathy - The Art of Understanding
by Jen Cavanaugh
It is easy to stand in harsh judgment over an issue and preclude empathetic feelings for the personal fear that we may be unsteadfast on our moral. But empathy allows us to truly understand the other person and why the have the contradicting stance. That allows us to to be keen in how to reach out to that person if our intent is to help them alter their thinking and encourage them to follow us. We are able to get insight as to the persons way of thinking, where they are in life, why they feel the way they do. We gain relatability. We have shown compassion. This offers an extension of friendship and a feeling of trust. Only then is it possible to really have influence. I have found this method helpful in my trials as a mother and wife. Even as a daughter. I have developed it through my experience watching the leaders of the Team. Even from stage, there is a strong sense that I feel understood. This is one of the things that brought me initially to trust the message that I was hearing and begin to incorporate it into my own thinking. Thank you for always providing education that helps mold me into a better person! Jen C.
