Welcome to my leadership blog. Ideas have consequences and the goal of this blog is to discuss ideas of consequence. Some ideas you may agree with and some you may disagree. No worries. The only rules are that you post under your own name and that you think and discuss in a civil manner. People who attack others only prove they have reached the limit of their logic. The Bible states, "Iron sharpens iron" and we will sharpen one another by what we read, write and think. The goal of this blog is to help us identify and follow truth in all areas of our lives. I encourage you to join our leadership discussion and transform yourself and others through the renewing of our minds.
Re: Empathy - The Art of Understanding
by Raymond
Orrin, Once again very timely article for the obvious reasons and not so obvious. As I read this article as a mother I instantly thinkof my oldest child and a situation we faced with her last week. Funny how the system shows up jsut when you need it. Because we has been sitting down with a couple who was sruggling in an area and advised them to read the first chp of 7 Habits Raymond and I were reading it as well. What we did not know was that the chapter before the "assigned"chapter called Inside-Out was going to bless us with the issue we were facing with our child and it dealt with perception and empathy. What does all this have to do with the article? First I don't believe in "CHANCE" so I know that the Lords hands had placed this system and information in our laps at that preordained specific time for that specific reason which began the process of us empathizing "in the right amount" with our child and getting the situation resolved. Of course prayer and belief that God would answer too. Secondly, we all need articles like this to remind us of how easy it is to slip back in to auto pilot and protect "my two,my four no more mentality" not ever sitting in the other chair trying to undstand someone else precepts and situations. Thanks Again, The prayer wheels will continue to turn as we move forward with you and TEAM Leadership!!! See you in St. Louis.....Tina A
