Ian,
It was a great weekend! The snow made for some exciting driving:) Since you asked how the weekend went I wanted to share with you just some of the notes I took. If they do not all flow together it is because I am only giving you a partial list of the notes I took. Enjoy it Ian my friend from Texas!
Orrin Woodward seminar notes (partial list)
- When you doubt the messenger, you can't believe the message
- Your a leader the minute you decide to take responsibility for yourself
- Leaders go the way, not just show the way
- All leaders are involved in change
How to Change:
- You have to be able to confront reality without getting depressed
- all success is based on the proper thinking about your situation
- all successful people leave clues. It is only the hungry that pick up on the clues.
- you need to be convinced to that your worth the investment
- Leadership is like a halogram (The longer you stare at it the more the picture becomes clear) The more you read and study leadership the more it becomes clear!
- When you get depressed in your life, you need to ask yourself "What questions am I asking myself." When you ask yourself negative questions, you will get negative answers.
Barriers of Change:
1. Deny Reality - If you deny reality you are not making decisions on your current environment
2. Pride - Be humble enough to know you don't have all the answers.
3. Conflict - People focus on a conflict instead of change.
- If you want something done more than praise it.
- Instead of telling people what they are doing wrong, praise them for their strengths.
- To double your success rate, double your failure rate
- The more interested you are with people, they more interested they are with you
- Don't be a dabbler. BE SPECIFIC! (In other words, don't be average in many things, but be great in one area)
- It is imporatant to read and learn about all types of things. Be able to connect the dots (Steve Jobs post a few days ago)
Hope you enjoyed Ian! I have more notes, but I cannot draw a diagram.
Best,
Matt
