Welcome to my leadership blog. Ideas have consequences and the goal of this blog is to discuss ideas of consequence. Some ideas you may agree with and some you may disagree. No worries. The only rules are that you post under your own name and that you think and discuss in a civil manner. People who attack others only prove they have reached the limit of their logic. The Bible states, "Iron sharpens iron" and we will sharpen one another by what we read, write and think. The goal of this blog is to help us identify and follow truth in all areas of our lives. I encourage you to join our leadership discussion and transform yourself and others through the renewing of our minds.
Re: A Network Marketer's Creed
by Jedi Knight
Orrin, Thanks for the fabulously insightful article. The sad part is, many people we encounter as we build our Monavie business seem to feel they are so much more knowledgeable and wiser than us, as they object to our network marketing business IN SPITE of the health benefits and retail-ability of the product. They try to talk us out of our community building efforts, and yet they don't even realize that they are the ones who have allowed themselves to be deceived. Their opinions are influenced by a media that only provides a skewed perspective in place of a careful analysis of all of the facts. I think that how you describe the liberal media (although I don't agree with the use of the word "liberal" as a pejorative adjective, but I'll save that debate for another day) also describes the response we receive from many people we encounter, who make similar arguments to the ones you've summarized above. To rephrase the three arguments, they tell us: 1. We're being duped, and we better get out before we end up bankrupt with no friends. or 2. We're being predatory, because we want to tell our friends and neighbours about a new product that's proving very beneficial for us and others. or 3. We're going to alienate everyone we know because we've succeeded at something others have failed at, so therefore we must have exploited them. I love your analogy of the bridge, and plan on using it the next time someone raises either the "you're being duped" or the "you're exploiting people" objection. Unfortunately, it seems that most people with these objections have closed their minds to any other perspective. But we still need to be persistent in our efforts. One day, my heart tells me, when we have achieved our dreams and are helping thousands to achieve theirs, those who refused to hear the truth about what we are doing, will finally understand. Thanks for the inspiration to keep moving forward in a positive direction!
