Welcome to my leadership blog. Ideas have consequences and the goal of this blog is to discuss ideas of consequence. Some ideas you may agree with and some you may disagree. No worries. The only rules are that you post under your own name and that you think and discuss in a civil manner. People who attack others only prove they have reached the limit of their logic. The Bible states, "Iron sharpens iron" and we will sharpen one another by what we read, write and think. The goal of this blog is to help us identify and follow truth in all areas of our lives. I encourage you to join our leadership discussion and transform yourself and others through the renewing of our minds.

Orrin: This was a tear-jerker. (I wonder if it will run every hour for 10 or 15 hours on CNN.) My kids also introduced me to a show called Extreme Home Makeover (or something like that). Its been around for a while. A team finds a very worthy and giving family, sends them off on vacation for a week, and then builds them a new house. The family is such a part of the community that scores or hundreds of people help out. THe outcomes are absolutely astounding. Almost every program is a tear-jerker. There are large corporations and local companies that give and give and give to help make this happen. What I notice is that there is NO GOVERNMENT involved in this (except probably permit and code approvals) - no government handouts - no government monies!! There are many, many people who give. I don't understand the logic that says the government must give out money to the needy because it would not happen otherwise. So, the people who allegedly are not charitable, will elect charitable politicians to carry out the charitable work that we would not do ourselves? (That type of logic makes my brain hurt.) I think not. Thanks for the info and all that you do. Owen Derry
