Leon Skousen wrote a book called "The 5000 Year Leap" which does a great job of explaining the founding fathers' mindset, and, as far as christianity, what they wanted and didn't want as far as education. I'd urge you to read it, it's a "must-have" in my library for most people who want to understand where we've come from. The book is definitely not about religion, but about the thinking behind the founding documents such as the constitution, and obviously religion/faith had a huge impact upon that thinking. It makes the point the founding fathers didn't push a particular religion (they were of different sects), but thought it important to teach/acknowledge certain principles regarding understanding that there is a creator and what that realization leads to. I'm sure Orrin's read it, and I'm sure he'd recommend it as well, though I won't speak for him, just recommend it myself.
